Thou Dost Not Know Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DED FGFG EHEH IBJB KLKL MNMN OCOC PBPB QLQL

Thou dost not know it but to hearA
One word of praise from theeB
There is no pain I would not bearC
No task too great for meB
-
My hands could tireless toil all dayD
My feet could tireless runE
If at the close thy lips would sayD
'Brave noble heart well done '-
-
-
-
Thou dost not know it but to winF
Approval from thine eyesG
My soul has conquered many a sinF
And conquering neared the skiesG
-
And though the reward may not be givenE
In all my earthly daysH
I feel that after death in heavenE
Thy lips will give me praiseH
-
-
-
Thou dost not know may never knowI
That all I strive to beB
All things praiseworthy that I doJ
I strive and do for theeB
-
And though I seldom see thy faceK
Or touch thy hand my friendL
Those meetings are the means of graceK
That help me to the endL
-
-
-
Thou dost not know that thy grand lifeM
Has been my beacon lightN
I aim to conquer in the strifeM
That I may reach thy heightN
-
I strive to live so that my feetO
May walk the fields most fairC
For the after life seems oh so sweetO
Because thou wilt be thereC
-
-
-
Thou dost not know how brave and strongP
A woman's heart can beB
But few could hide so well and longP
What mine has hid from theeB
-
So well that should this idyl chanceQ
To meet thine eye my friendL
Thou'd scan it with a careless glanceQ
Nor dream to whom 'twas pennedL
