This Is My Task Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFG HIJJKKCCLLMMG NOJJCCPPQQRRG

When the whole world resounds with rude alarmsA
Of warring armsA
When God's good earth from border unto borderB
Shows man's disorderB
Let me not waste my dower of mortal mightC
In grieving over wrongs I cannot rightC
This is my task amid discordant strifeD
To keep a clean sweet centre in my lifeD
And though the human orchestra may beE
Playing all out of keyE
To tune my soul to symphonies aboveF
And sound the note of loveF
This is my taskG
-
When by the minds of men most beauteous FaithH
Seems doomed to deathI
And to her place is hoisted by soul treasonJ
The dullard ReasonJ
Let me not hurry forth with flag unfurledK
To proselyte an unbelieving worldK
This is my task in depths of unstarred nightC
Or in diverting and distracting lightC
To keep in crowds or in my room aloneL
Faith on her lofty throneL
And whatsoever happen or befallM
To see God's hand in allM
This is my taskG
-
When in church pews men worship God in wordsN
But meet their kind with swordsO
When Fair Religion stripped of holy passionJ
Walks masked as FashionJ
Let me not wax indignant at the sightC
Or waste my strength bewailing her sad plightC
This is my task to search in my own mindP
Until the qualities of God I findP
To seek them in the hearts of friend and foeQ
Or high or lowQ
And in my hours of toil or prayer or playR
To live my creed each dayR
This is my taskG
