The Wheel Of The Breast Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAABCCDEDEEFFGDBGGD HIIHCCBBAAJJA

Through rivers of veins on the nameless questA
The tide of my life goes hurriedly sweepingB
Till it reaches that curious wheel o' the breastA
The human heart which is never at restA
Faster faster it cries and leapingB
Plunging dashing speeding awayC
The wheel and the river work night and dayC
I know not wherefore I know not whitherD
This strange tide rushes with such mad forceE
It glides on hither it slides on thitherD
Over and over the selfsame courseE
With never an outlet and never a sourceE
And it lashes itself to the heat of passionF
And whirls the heart in a mill wheel fashionF
I can hear in the hush of the still still nightG
The ceaseless sound of that mighty riverD
I can hear it gushing gurgling rushingB
With a wild delirious strange delightG
And a conscious pride in its sense of mightG
As it hurries and worries my heart foreverD
And I wonder oft as I lie awakeH
And list to the river that seethes and surgesI
Over the wheel that it chides and urgesI
I wonder oft if that wheel will breakH
With the mighty pressure it bears some dayC
Or slowly and wearily wear awayC
For little by little the heart is wearingB
Like the wheel of the mill as the tide goes tearingB
And plunging hurriedly through my breastA
In a network of veins on a nameless quetA
From and forth unto unknown oceansJ
Bringing its cargoes of fierce emotionsJ
With never a pause or an hour for restA
