The Watcher Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDC EFEF GHG I JKLKMM

I think I hear the sound of horses' feetA
Beating upon the graveled avenueB
Go to the window that looks on the streetA
He would not let me die alone I knew 'C
Back to the couch the patient watcher passedD
And said 'It is the wailing of the blast 'C
-
-
She turned upon her couch and seeming sleptE
The long dark lashes shadowing her cheekF
And on and on the weary moments creptE
When suddenly the watcher heard her speakF
'I think I hear the sound of horses' hoofs '-
And answered ''Tis the rain upon the roofs '-
-
-
Unbroken silence quiet deep profoundG
The restless sleeper turns 'How dark how lateH
What is it that I hear a trampling soundG
I think there is a horseman at the gate '-
The watcher turns away her eyes tear blindI
'It is the shutter beating in the wind '-
-
-
The dread hours passed the patient clock ticked onJ
The weary watcher moved not from her placeK
The gray dim shadows of the early dawnL
Caught sudden glory from the sleeper's faceK
'He comes my love I knew he would ' she criedM
And smiling sweetly in her slumbers diedM
