The Valley Of Fear Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD BEBEFGFD HIHI DGD JKJLMDMD GGG

In the journey of life as we travel alongA
To the mystical goal that is hidden from sightB
You may stumble at times into Roadways of WrongA
Not seeing the sign board that points to the rightB
Through caverns of sorrow your feet may be ledC
Where the noon of the day will like midnight appearD
But no matter whither you wander or treadC
Keep out of the Valley of FearD
-
-
The Roadways of Wrong will wind out into lightB
If you sit in the silence and ask for a GuideE
In the caverns of sorrow your soul gains its sightB
Of beautiful vistas ascending and wideE
In by paths of worry and trouble and strifeF
Full many a bloom grows bedewed by a tearG
But wretched and arid and void of all lifeF
Is the desolate Valley of FearD
-
-
The Valley of Fear is a maddening mazeH
Of paths that wind on without exit or endI
From nowhere to nowhere lead all of its waysH
And shadows with shadows in more shadows blendI
Each guide post is lettered 'This way to Despair '-
And the River of Death in the darkness flows nearD
But there is a beautiful Roadway of PrayerG
This side of the Valley of FearD
-
-
This beautiful Roadway is narrow and steepJ
And it runs up the side of the Mountain of FaithK
You may not perceive it at first if you weepJ
But it rises high over the River of DeathL
Though the Roadway is narrow and dark at the baseM
It widens ascending and ever grows clearD
Till it shines at the top with the Light of God's faceM
Far far from the Valley of FearD
-
-
When close to that Valley your footsteps shall fareG
Turn turn to the Roadway of PrayerG
The beautiful Roadway of PrayerG
