The Truth Teller Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFCGCG CHCHIJIJ CKCKCCCC

The Truth Teller lifts the curtainA
And shows us the people's plightB
And everything seems uncertainA
And nothing at all looks rightB
Yet out of the blackness gropingC
My heart finds a world in bloomD
For it somehow is fashioned for hopingC
And it cannot live in the gloomD
-
He tells us from border to borderE
That race is warring with raceF
With riot and mad disorderE
The earth is a wretched placeF
And yet ere the sun is settingC
I am thinking of peace not strifeG
For my heart has a way of forgettingC
All things save the joy of lifeG
-
I heard in my Youth's beginningC
That earth was a region of woeH
And trouble and sorrow and sinningC
The Truth Teller told me soH
I knew it was true and tragicI
And I mourned over much that was wrongJ
And then by some curious magicI
The heart of me burst into songJ
-
The years have been going goingC
A mixture of pleasure and painK
But the Truth Teller's books are showingC
That evil is on the gainK
And I know that I ought to be grievingC
And I should be too sad to singC
But somehow I keep on believingC
That life is a glorious thingC
