Oh by and by we shall hear the cryA
'This is the way to Mars 'B
Come take a trip on the morning ShipC
It sails by the Isle of StarsD
-
'A glorious view of planets newE
We promise by night and dayF
Past dying suns our good ship runsG
And we pause at the Milky Way '-
-
I am almost sure we will take that tourH
Together my dear my dearI
For ever have we by land and seaJ
Gone journeying far and nearI
-
Out over the deep o'er mountain steepK
We have travelled mile on mileL
And to sail away to the Martian BayF
Oh that were a trip worth whileL
-
Our ship will race through seas of spaceM
Up into the Realms of LightN
Till the whirling ball of the earth grows smallO
And is utterly lost to sightN
-
Through the nebulous spawn where planets are bornP
We shall pass with sails well furledN
And with eager eyes we will scan the skiesQ
For the sights of a new made worldN
-
From the derelict barque of a sun gone darkR
Adrift on our fair ship's pathS
A beacon star shall guide us afarT
And far from the comet's wrathS
-
Oh many a start of pulse and heartN
We have felt at the sights of landN
But what would we do if the dream came trueE
And we sighted the Martian strandN
-
So if some day you come and sayF
They are sailing to Mars I hearU
I want you to know I am ready to goV
All ready my dear my dearI
