The Trio Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD ECEC FGFG

We love but once The great gold orb of lightA
From dawn to eventide doth cast his rayB
But the full splendour of his perfect mightA
Is reached but once throughout the live long dayB
-
We love but once The waves with ceaseless motionC
Do day and night plash on the pebbled shoreD
But the strong tide of the resistless oceanC
Sweeps in but one hour of the twenty fourD
-
We love but once A score of times perchanceE
We may be moved in fancy s fleeting fashionC
May treasure up a word a tone a glanceE
But only once we feel the soul s great passionC
-
We love but once Love walks with death and birthF
The saddest the unkindest of the threeG
And only once while we sojourn on earthF
Can that strange trio come to you or meG
