The Tendril's Fate Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EBEB FGFG HIHI JEJE

Under the snow in the dark and the coldA
A pale little sprout was hummingB
Sweetly it sang 'neath the frozen mouldA
Of the beautiful days that were comingB
-
How foolish your songs said a lump of clayC
What is there I ask to prove themD
Just look at the walls between you and the dayC
Now have you the strength to move themD
-
But under the ice and under the snowE
The pale little sprout kept singingB
I cannot tell how but I know I knowE
I know what the days are bringingB
-
Birds and blossoms and buzzing beesF
Blue blue skies above meG
Bloom on the meadows and buds on the treesF
And the great glad sun to love meG
-
A pebble spoke next You are quite absurdH
It said with your song's insistenceI
For I never saw a tree or a birdH
So of course there are none in existenceI
-
But I know I know the tendril criedJ
In beautiful sweet unreasonE
Till lo from its prison glorifiedJ
It burst in the glad spring seasonE
