Though you see no banded armyA
Though you hear no cannons rattleB
We are in a mighty contestC
We are fighting a great battleB
We are few but we are rightD
And we wage the holy fightD
Night and day and day and nightD
-
-
If we do not fail or falterE
If we do not sleep or slumberE
We shall win in this great contestC
Though the foe is twice our numberE
This the burden of our songF
'We are few but we are strongF
And right must triumph over wrong '-
-
-
O my sisters O my brothersG
There is death all round about usH
Must we then sit down discouragedI
Will you let the wine cup rout usH
Hear the drunkard's awful wailJ
See the mourners bowed and paleJ
Will you coward then say 'fail'J
-
-
Say not that your heart is with usH
When you do not help or aid usH
All who love the cause sincerelyJ
Can do something God has made usH
Tongues to talk with you can sayK
Something if you will each dayK
That will help us on our wayK
-
-
Though you are not highly giftedL
Though you are not bard or poetM
Though you cannot preach or lectureE
You can love the cause and show itN
Boldly in each thing you doO
Seeking all that's pure and trueO
This will be a help from youO
-
-
You can say the liquor trafficP
Is a curse to any nationQ
You can say that prohibitionQ
Is a blessing and salvationQ
You can sow good seeds and thoughR
You may never see them growR
They will not be lost I knowR
-
-
In this mighty temperance contestC
Where no guns or cannons rattleJ
Though you cannot lead the armyJ
Or be chieftain of the battleJ
With that mighty sword the tongueS
You can fight against the wrongF
You can sing some temperance songF
-
-
Say not that you cannot aid usH
Drops of water make the riverE
Make the mighty MississippiJ
That flows on hand on for everE
Every word you say for RightD
Gives us courage gives us mightD
And brings nearer morn and nightD
