The Squanderer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDEFDE

God gave him passions splendid as the sunA
Meant for the lordliest purposes a partB
Of nature's full and fertile mother heartB
From which new systems and new stars are spunA
And now behold behold what he has doneA
In Folly's court and carnal Pleasures' martB
He flung the wealth life gave him at the startB
This of all mortal sins the deadliest oneA
-
At dawn he stood potential opulentC
With virile manhood and emotions keenD
And wonderful with God's creative fireE
At noon he stands with Love's large fortune spentF
In petty traffic unproductive meanD
A pauper cursed with impotent desireE
