The Secret Of Prayer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AB C DEDEFF GDGDHH IJIKGG

For he who climbs to say his prayerA
Meets half way the descending GraceB
-
ELSA BARKER in British ReviewC
-
This is the secret of all prayersD
That in God's sight have worthE
They must be uttered from the stairsD
That wind away from earthE
And he who mounts to speak the wordF
He shall be heard He shall be heardF
-
And he who will not leave himselfG
But stays down with his caresD
Or with his thoughts of pride and pelfG
Though loud and long his prayersD
Beyond earth's dome of arching skiesH
They shall not rise They shall not riseH
-
Oh ye who seek for strength and powerI
Seek first some quiet spotJ
And fashion through a silent hourI
Your stairway thought by thoughtK
Then climb and pray to God on highG
He shall reply He shall replyG
