The Past Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKDLM| Fling my past behind me like a robe | A |
| Worn threadbare in the seams and out of date | B |
| I have outgrown it Wherefore should I weep | C |
| And dwell up on its beauty and its dyes | D |
| Of Oriental splendour or complain | E |
| That I must needs discard it I can weave | F |
| Upon the shuttles of the future years | G |
| A fabric far more durable Subdued | H |
| It may be in the blending of its hues | I |
| Where sombre shades commingle yet the gleam | J |
| Of golden warp shall shoot it through and through | K |
| While over all a fadeless lustre lies | D |
| And starred with gems made out of crystalled tears | L |
| My new robe shall be richer than the old | M |
