The Paean Of Peace Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEGHIHI HJHJEKEK LALALMLM NMOMPLPL

With ever some wrong to be rightingA
With self ever seeking for placeB
The world has been striving and fightingA
Since man was evolved out of spaceB
Bold history into dark regionsC
His torchlight has fearlessly castD
He shows us tribes warring in legionsC
In jungles of ages long passedD
-
Religion forgetting her stationE
Forgetting her birthright from GodF
Set nation to warring with nationE
And scattered dissension abroadG
Dear creeds have made men kill each otherH
Fair faith has bred hate and despairI
And brother has battled with brotherH
Because of a difference in prayerI
-
But earth has grown wiser and kinderH
For man is evolving a soulJ
From wars of an age that was blinderH
We rise to a peace girdled goalJ
Where once men would murder in treasonE
And slaughter each other in hordesK
They now meet together and reasonE
With thoughts for their weapons not swordsK
-
The brute in humanity dwindlesL
And lessens as time speeds alongA
And the spark of Divinity kindlesL
And blazes up brightly and strongA
The seer can behold in the distanceL
The race that shall people the worldM
Strong men of a godlike existenceL
Unarmed and with war banners furledM
-
No longer the bloodthirsty savageN
Man's vast spirit strength shall unfoldM
And tales of red warfare and ravageO
Shall seem like ghost stories of oldM
For the booming of guns and the rattleP
Of carnage and conflict shall ceaseL
And the bugle call leading to battleP
Shall change to a paean of peaceL
