The Message Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABACAC ADADEFEF GHIHJKJK GLGLAHAH JAJAJJJJ EMEMNJOJ EPEPJQJQ RSTSUVUV G JIJAWAWI have not the gift of vision | A |
I have not the psychic ear | B |
And the realms that are called Elysian | A |
I neither see nor hear | B |
Yet oft when the shadows darken | A |
And the daylight hides its face | C |
The soul of me seems to hearken | A |
For the truths that speak through space | C |
- | |
- | |
They speak to me not through reason | A |
They speak to me not by word | D |
Yet my soul would be guilty of treason | A |
If it did not say it had heard | D |
For Space has a message compelling | E |
To give to the ear of Earth | F |
And the things which the Silence is telling | E |
In the bosom of God have birth | F |
- | |
- | |
Now this is the truth as I hear it | G |
That ever through good or ill | H |
The will of the Ruling Spirit | I |
Is moving and ruling still | H |
In the clutch of the blood red terror | J |
That holds the world in its might | K |
The Race is learning its error | J |
And will find its way to the light | K |
- | |
- | |
And this is the Truth as I see it | G |
Whoever cries out for peace | L |
Must think it and live it and be it | G |
And the wars of the world will cease | L |
Men fight that man may awaken | A |
And no longer want to kill | H |
Wars rage and the heavens are shaken | A |
That man may learn how to be still | H |
- | |
- | |
In the silence he finds his Saviour | J |
The God Who is dwelling within | A |
And only by Christ behaviour | J |
Is the soul of him saved from sin | A |
There is only one Source no other | J |
One Light and each soul is a ray | J |
And he who would slaughter his brother | J |
Himself he is seeking to slay | J |
- | |
- | |
Now these are the Truths we are learning | E |
Through evils and horrors untold | M |
For the thought of the race is turning | E |
Away from its methods of old | M |
And the mind of the race is sated | N |
With the things that it prized of yore | J |
And the monster of war is hated | O |
As never on earth before | J |
- | |
- | |
Oh slow are God's mills in the grinding | E |
But they grind exceedingly small | P |
And slow is man's soul in the finding | E |
That he is a part of the All | P |
Through ons and ons his story | J |
Is bloody and blackened with crime | Q |
But he will come out into glory | J |
And stand on the summits sublime | Q |
- | |
- | |
He will stand on the summits of Knowledge | R |
In the splendour of Light from the Source | S |
And the methods of church and of college | T |
Will all of them change by his force | S |
For the creeds that are blind and cruel | U |
And the teachings by rule and by rod | V |
Will all be turned into fuel | U |
To light up the pathway to God | V |
- | |
- | |
This is the Truth as I hear it | G |
- | |
The clouds are rolling away | J |
And spirit will talk with Spirit | I |
In the swift approaching day | J |
War from the world shall be driven | A |
From evil shall come forth good | W |
And men shall make ready for Heaven | A |
Through living in Brotherhood | W |
