The Little Lady Of The Bullock Cart Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCABC DECCEC FGCFGC CHCCIC

Now is the time when India is gayA
With wedding parties and the radiant throngsB
Seem like a scattered rainbow taking partC
In human pleasures Dressed in bright arrayA
They fling upon the bride their wreaths of songsB
The Little Lady of the Bullock CartC
-
Here is the temple ready for the riteD
The large eyed bullocks halt and waiting armsE
Lift down the bride All India's curious artC
Speaks in the gems with which she is bedightC
And in the robes which hide her sweet alarmsE
The Little Lady of the Bullock CartC
-
This is her day of days her splendid hourF
When joy is hers though love is all unknownG
It has not dawned upon her childish heartC
But human triumph in a temporal powerF
Has crowned her queen upon a one day throneG
The Little Lady of the Bullock CartC
-
Ah Little Lady What will be your fateC
So long so long the outward reaching yearsH
So brief the joy of this elusive partC
So frail the shoulders for the loads that waitC
So bitter salt the virgin widow's tearsI
O Little Lady of the Bullock cartC
