The Land Of The Gone-away Souls Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACBC DEDFEF CGCHGH EIJKIK BLBDLD

Oh that is a beautiful land I wisA
The land of the Gone away SoulsB
Yes a lovelier region by far than thisA
Though this is a world most fairC
The goodliest goal of all good goalsB
Else why do our friends stay thereC
-
-
I walk in a world that is sweet with friendsD
And earth I have ever held dearE
Yes love with duty and beauty blendsD
To render the earth place brightF
But faster and faster year on yearE
My comrades hurry from sightF
-
-
They hurry away to the Over ThereC
And few of them say farewellG
Yes they go away with a secret airC
As if on a secret questH
And they come not back to earth to tellG
Why that land seems the bestH
-
-
Messages come from the mystic sphereE
But few know the code of that landI
Yes many the message but few who hearJ
In the din of the world belowK
Or hearing the message can understandI
Those truths which we long to knowK
-
-
But it must be the goal of all good goalsB
And I think of it more and moreL
Yes think of that land of the Gone Away SoulsB
And its growing hosts of friendsD
Who will hail my bark when it touches shoreL
Where the last brief journey endsD
