The King Of Candyland Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DADAEE FGFGHH IBIBJJ HGHGAAHave you heard of the king of Candy land | A |
Well listen while I sing | B |
He has pages on every hand | A |
For he is a mighty king | B |
And thousands of children bend the knee | C |
And bow to this ruler of high degree | C |
- | |
He has a smile oh like the sun | D |
And his face is round and bland | A |
His bright eyes twinkle and glow with fun | D |
As the children kiss his hand | A |
And everything toothsome melting sweet | E |
He scatters freely before their feet | E |
- | |
But wo for the children who follow him | F |
With loving praises and laughter | G |
For he is a monster ugly and grim | F |
That they go running after | G |
And when they get well into the chase | H |
He lifts his masque and shows his face | H |
- | |
And ah but that is a gruesome sight | I |
For the followers of the king | B |
The cheeks grow pale that once were bright | I |
And they sob instead of sing | B |
And their teeth drop out and their eyes grow red | J |
And they cannot sleep when they go to bed | J |
- | |
And after they see the monster's face | H |
They have no peaceful hour | G |
And they have aches in every place | H |
And what was sweet seems sour | G |
Oh wo for that sorrowful foolish band | A |
Who follow the king of Candy land | A |
