The Jealous Gods Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEF GHIHEJ GKLKMF

'Oh life is wonderful ' she saidA
'And all my world is brightB
Can Paradise show fairer skiesC
Or more effulgent light 'D
Speak lower lower mortal heartE
The jealous gods may hearF
-
She turned for answer but his gazeG
Cut past her like a lanceH
And shone like flame on one who cameI
With radiant glance for glanceH
You spoke too loud O mortal heartE
The jealous gods were nearJ
-
They walked through green and sunlit waysG
And yet the earth seemed blackK
For there were three where two should beL
So runs the world alackK
The listening gods the jealous godsM
They want no Edens hereF
