The Hour Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFF GHGHII JKJKLL MNMNAA

This is the world's stupendous hourA
The supreme moment for the raceB
To see the emptiness of powerA
The worthlessness of wealth and placeB
To see the purpose and the planC
Conceived by God for growing manC
-
-
And they who see and comprehendD
That ultimate and lofty aimE
Will wait in patience for the endD
Knowing injustice cannot claimE
One lasting victory or controlF
Laws that bar progress for the wholeF
-
-
This is an epoch making timeG
God thunders through the universeH
A message glorious and sublimeG
At once a blessing and a curseH
Blessings for those who seek His lightI
Curses for those whose law is mightI
-
-
Ephemeral as the sunset glowJ
Is human grandeur Mortal lifeK
Was given that souls might seek and knowJ
Immortal truths and through the strifeK
That shakes the earth from land to landL
The wise shall hear and understandL
-
-
Out of the awful holocaustM
Out of the whirlwind and the floodN
Out of old creeds to Bedlam tossedM
Shall rise a new earth washed in bloodN
A new race filled with spirit powerA
This is the world's stupendous hourA
