The Harp's Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AA BB CD EE FF GG HH II

All day all day in a calm like deathA
The harp hung waiting the sea wind's breathA
-
When the western sky flushed red with shameB
At the sun's bold kiss the sea wind cameB
-
Said the harp to the breeze Oh breathe as softC
As the ring dove cooes from its nest aloftD
-
I am full of a song that mothers croonE
When their wee ones tire of their play at noonE
-
Though a harp may feel 'tis a silent thingF
Till the breeze arises and bids it singF
-
Said the wind to the harp Nay sing for meG
The wail of the dead that are lost at seaG
-
I caught their cry as I came alongH
And I hurried to find you and teach you the songH
-
Oh the heart is the harp and love is the breezeI
And the song is ever what love may pleaseI
