The Greater Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDEF GGHH IIJJ KKLLMMNN

Hear thou my prayer great God of opulenceA
Give me no blessings save as recompenseB
For blessings which I lovingly bestowC
On needy stranger or on suffering foeC
If Wealth by chance should on my path appearD
Let Wisdom and Benevolence stand nearD
And Charity within my portal waitE
To guard me from acquaintance intimateF
-
Yet in this intricate great art of livingG
Guide me away from misdirected givingG
And show me how to spur the laggard soulH
To strive alone once more to gain the goalH
-
Repay my worldly efforts to attainI
Only as I develop heart and brainI
Nor brand me with the 'Dollar Sign' aboveJ
A bosom void of sympathy and loveJ
-
If on the carrying winds my name be blownK
To any land or time beyond my ownK
Let it not be as one who gained the dayL
By crowding others from the chosen wayL
Rather as one who missed the highest placeM
Pausing to cheer spent runners in the raceM
To do to have is lesser than to BEN
The greater boon I ask dear God from TheeN
