The Giddy Girl Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDDEEFF GHGHIIJJKKFF LMLMNNOOHHPFF

A giddy young maiden with nimble feetA
Heigh ho alack and alasB
Declared she would far rather dance than eatA
And the truth of it came to passB
For she danced all day and she danced all nightC
She danced till the green earth faded whiteC
She danced ten partners out of breathD
She danced the eleventh one quite to deathD
And still she redowaed up and downE
The giddiest girl in townE
With one two three one two three one two three kickF
Chass e back chass e back whirl around quickF

The name of this damsel ended with EG
Heigh ho alack and a dayH
And she was as fair as a maiden need beG
Till she danced her beauty awayH
She danced her big toes out of jointI
She danced her other toes all to a pointI
She danced out slipper and boot and shoeJ
She danced till the bones of her feet came throughJ
And still she redowaed waltzed and whirledK
The giddiest girl in the worldK
With one two three one two three one two three kickF
Chass e back chass e back whirl around quickF

Now the end of my story is sad to relateL
Heigh ho and away we goM
For this beautiful maiden's final fateL
Is shrouded in gloom and woeM
She danced herself into a patent topN
She whirled and whirled till she could not stopN
She danced and bounded and sprang so farO
That she stuck at last on a pointed starO
And there she must dance till the Judgment DayH
And after it too for she danced awayH
Her soul you see so she has no place anywhere out of spaceP
With her one two three one two three one two three kickF
Chass e back chass e back whirl about quickF
