The Ghost Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBBBCCB DEFGEHHE IJKKJBBJ BLKKLKKL MNEENEEN

Through the open door of dreamlandA
Came a ghost of long ago long agoB
When I wakened all unheedingB
Was the phantom to my pleadingB
For he would not turn and goB
But beside me all the dayC
In my work and in my playC
Trod this ghost of long ago long agoB
-
Not a vague and pallid phantomD
Was this ghost that came to me followed meE
Though he rose from regions hauntedF
Though he came unbid unwantedG
He was very fair to seeE
Like the radiant sun in spaceH
Was the halo round the faceH
Of that ghost that came to me followed meE
-
And he wore no shroud or cere clothI
As he wandered at my side close besideJ
He was clothed in royal splendourK
And his eyes were deep and tenderK
While he walked in stately prideJ
And he seemed like some great kingB
Not afraid of anythingB
As he wandered at my side close besideJ
-
Then I turned to him commandingB
That he go the way he came whence he cameL
But he answered me in sorrowK
May the Past not seek to borrowK
From the Present without blameL
Just one memory from its storeK
Ere it goes to come no moreK
Back the pathway that it came whence it cameL
-
Then ashamed of my full coffersM
I gave forth from Memory's hold wondrous holdN
All I owed of tax and dutyE
For remembered hours of beautyE
Which I paid in thoughts of goldN
Yet my present seemed to beE
Richer still for all the feeE
I gave forth from Memory's hold wondrous holdN
