The German Fleet Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDEFDE

Lie down and let the billows hide your shameA
Oh shorn and naked outcast of the seasB
You who confided to each ocean breezeB
Your coming conquests and made loud acclaimA
Of your own grandeur and exalted fameA
You who have catered to they world's diseaseB
You who have drunk hate's wine and found the leesB
Lie down and let all men forget your nameA
-
You dreamed of world dominion you the spawnC
Of hell and hatred Foe to all things freeD
Sworn enemy to honour truth and rightE
Too poor a thing now for the Devil's pawnF
Let the large mercy of the outraged seaD
Engulf and hide you evermore from sightE
