The Depths Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBC ADEFDEF

Not only sun kissed heights are fair BelowA
The cold dark billows of the frowning deepB
Do lovely blossoms of the ocean sleepB
Rocked gently by the waters to and froA
The coral beds with magic colours glowA
And priceless pearl encrusted molluscs heapB
The glittering rocks where shining atoms leapB
Like living broken rainbowsC
-
Even soA
We find the sea of sorrow Black as nightD
The sullen surface meets our frightened gazeE
As down we sink to darkness and despairF
But at the depths such beauty such delightD
Such flowers as never grew in pleasure's waysE
Ah not alone are sun kissed summits fairF
