The Creed To Be Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGF HIHI JKJK LMLM JNJN OPOP

Our thoughts are molding unmade spheresA
And like a blessing or a curseB
They thunder down the formless yearsA
And ring throughout the universeB
-
We build our futures by the shapeC
Of our desires and not by actsD
There is no pathway of escapeC
No priest made creeds can alter factsD
-
Salvation is not begged or boughtE
Too long this selfish hope sufficedF
Too long man reeked with lawless thoughtG
And leaned upon a tortured ChristF
-
Like shriveled leaves these worn out creedsH
Are dropping from Religion s treeI
The world begins to know its needsH
And souls are crying to be freeI
-
Free from the load of fear and griefJ
Man fashioned in an ignorant ageK
Free from the ache of unbeliefJ
He fled to in rebellious rageK
-
No church can bind him to the thingsL
That fed the first crude souls evolvedM
For mounting up on daring wingsL
He questions mysteries all unsolvedM
-
Above the chant of priests aboveJ
The blatant voice of braying doubtN
He hears the still small voice of LoveJ
Which sends its simple message outN
-
And clearer sweeter day by dayO
Its mandate echoes from the skiesP
Go roll the stone of self awayO
And let the Christ within thee riseP
