The Change Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD AEA FGFG HIHI JAJA HDHD

She leaned out into the soft June weatherA
With her long loose tresses the night breeze playedB
Her eyes were as blue as the bells on the heatherA
Oh what is so fair as a fair young maidB
-
She folded her hands like the leaves of a lilyC
'My life ' she said 'is a night in JuneD
Fair and quiet and calm and stillyC
Bring me a change O changeful moonD
-
'Who would drift on a lake foreverA
Young hearts weary it is not strangeE
And sigh for the beautiful bounding riverA
New moon true moon bring me a change '-
-
The rose that rivalled her maiden blushesF
Dropped from her breast at a strangers feetG
Only a glance but the hot blood rushesF
To mantle a fair face shy and sweetG
-
To and fro while the moon is waningH
They walk and the stars shine on aboveI
And one is in earnest and one is feigningH
Oh what is so sweet as a sweet young loveI
-
A young life crushed and a young heart brokenJ
A bleak wind blows through the lovely bowerA
And all that remains of the love vows spokenJ
Is the trampled leaf of a faded flowerA
-
The night is dark for the moon is failingH
And what is so pale as a pale old moonD
Cold is the wind through the tree tops wailingH
Woe that the change should come so soonD
