The Brewer's Dog Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHBHBIBI JKLKMBNBMOPO

The brewer's dog is abroad boysA
Be careful where you strayB
His teeth are coated with poisonC
And he's on the watch for preyB
The brewery is his kennelD
But he lurks on every handE
And he seeks for easy victimsF
The children of the landE
-
-
His eyes gleam through the windowsG
Of the gay saloon at nightH
And in many a first class 'drug store'B
He is hiding out of sightH
Be careful where you enterB
And if you smell his breathI
Flee as you would from a viperB
For its fumes are the fumes of deathI
-
-
O boys would you kill the bloodhoundJ
Would you slay the snarling whelpK
I know that you can do itL
If every one will helpK
You must make a solemn promiseM
To drink no ale or beerB
And soon the feeble death wailN
Of the brewer's dog we'll hearB
For if all keep the promiseM
You can starve him out I knowO
But if boys and men keep drinkingP
The dog will thrive and growO
