The Sunbeam loved the MoonbeamA
And followed her low and highB
But Moonbeam fled and hid her headC
She was so shy so shyB
-
The Sunbeam wooed with passionD
Ah he was a lover boldE
And his heart was afire with mad desireF
For the moonbeam pale and coldE
-
She fled like a dream before himG
Her hair was a shining sheenH
And oh that Fate would annihilateI
The space that lay betweenH
-
Just as the day lay pantingJ
In the arms of the twilight dimG
The Sunbeam caught the one he soughtK
And drew her close to himG
-
But out of his warm arms startledL
And stirred by Love s first shockM
She sprang afraid like a trembling maidN
And hid in the niche of a rockM
-
And the Sunbeam followed and found herF
And led her to Love s own feastO
And they were wed on that rocky bedC
And the dying day was priestO
-
And lo the beautiful OpalP
That rare and wondrous gemQ
Where the moon and the sun blend into oneD
Is the child that was born to themQ
