Thanksgiving Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACADED FGFGHIJI KDKD LMNM OPOPQRHR SGNGRMTM

We walk on starry fields of whiteA
And do not see the daisiesB
For blessings common in our sightA
We rarely offer praisesC
We sigh for some supreme delightA
To crown our lives with splendorD
And quite ignore our daily storeE
Of pleasures sweet and tenderD
-
Our cares are bold and push their wayF
Upon our thought and feelingG
They hang about us all the dayF
Our time from pleasure stealingG
So unobtrusive many a joyH
We pass by and forget itI
But worry strives to own our livesJ
And conquers if we let itI
-
There's not a day in all the yearK
But holds some hidden pleasureD
And looking back joys oft appearK
To brim the past's wide measureD
-
But blessings are like friends I holdL
Who love and labor near usM
We ought to raise our notes of praiseN
While living hearts can hear usM
-
Full many a blessing wears the guiseO
Of worry or of troubleP
Farseeing is the soul and wiseO
Who knows the mask is doubleP
But he who has the faith and strengthQ
To thank his God for sorrowR
Has found a joy without alloyH
To gladden every morrowR
-
We ought to make the moments notesS
Of happy glad ThanksgivingG
The hours and days a silent phraseN
Of music we are livingG
And so the theme should swell and growR
As weeks and months pass o'er usM
And rise sublime at this good timeT
A grand Thanksgiving chorusM
