Sympathy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBBB ABDBBB EBFBBB GBABBBBB

Is the way hard and thorny oh my brotherA
Do tempests beat and adverse wild winds blowB
And are you spent and broken at each nightfallC
Yet with each morn you rise and onward goB
Brother I know I knowB
I too have journeyed soB
-
Is your heart mad with longing oh my sisterA
Are all great passions in your breast aglowB
Does the white wonder of your own soul blind youD
And are you torn with rapture and with woeB
Sister I know I knowB
I too have suffered soB
-
Is the road filled with snare and quicksand pilgrimE
Do pitfalls lie where roses seem to growB
And have you sometimes stumbled in the darknessF
And are you bruised and scarred by many a blowB
Pilgrim I know I knowB
I too have stumbled soB
-
Do you send out rebellious cry and questionG
As mocking hours pass silently and slowB
Does your insistent 'wherefore' bring no answerA
While stars wax pale with watching and droop lowB
I too have questioned soB
But now I KNOW I KNOWB
To toil to strive to err to cry to growB
TO LOVE THROUGH all this is the way to KNOWB
