Solitude Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE AGDGHIJI KLMLDNON

Laugh and the world laughs with youA
Weep and you weep aloneB
For the sad old earth must borrow its mirthC
But has trouble enough of its ownB
Sing and the hills will answerD
Sigh it is lost on the airE
The echoes bound to a joyful soundF
But shrink from voicing careE
-
Rejoice and men will seek youA
Grieve and they turn and goG
They want full measure of all your pleasureD
But they do not need your woeG
Be glad and your friends are manyH
Be sad and you lose them allI
There are none to decline your nectared wineJ
But alone you must drink life's gallI
-
Feast and your halls are crowdedK
Fast and the world goes byL
Succeed and give and it helps you liveM
But no man can help you dieL
There is room in the halls of pleasureD
For a large and lordly trainN
But one by one we must all file onO
Through the narrow aisles of painN
