Preface To Poems Of Cheer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGHI JKLMNOPQRSDATGUVWXYJ J

I step across the mystic border landA
And look upon the wonder world of ArtB
How beautiful how beautiful its hillsC
And all its valleys how surpassing fairD
-
The winding paths that lead up to the heightsE
Are polished by the footsteps of the greatF
The mountain peaks stand very near to GodG
The chosen few whose feet have trod thereonH
Have talked with Him and with the angels walkedI
-
Here are no sounds of discord no profaneJ
Or senseless gossip of unworthy thingsK
Only the songs of chisels and of pensL
Of busy brushes and ecstatic strainsM
Of souls surcharged with music most divineN
Here is no idle sorrow no poor griefO
For any day or object left behindP
For time is counted precious and hereinQ
Is such complete abandonment of SelfR
That tears turn into rainbows and enhanceS
The beauty of the land where all is fairD
Awed and afraid I cross the border landA
Oh who am I that I dare enter hereT
Where the great artists of the world have trodG
The genius crowned aristocrats of EarthU
Only the singer of a little songV
Yet loving Art with such a mighty loveW
I hold it greater to have won a placeX
Just on the fair land's edge to make my graveY
Than in the outer world of greed and gainJ
To sit upon a royal throne and reignJ
