Possession Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ CACA

That which we had we still possessA
Though leaves may drop and stars may fallB
No circumstance can make it lessA
Or take it from us all in allB
-
That which is lost we did not ownC
We only held it for a dayD
A leaf by careless breezes blownC
No fate could take our own awayD
-
I hold it as a changeless lawE
From which no soul can sway or swerveF
We have that in us which will drawE
Whate'er we need or most deserveF
-
Even as the magnet to the steelG
Our souls are to our best desiresH
The Fates have hearts and they can feelG
They know what each true life requiresH
-
We think we lose when we most gainI
We call joys ended ere begunJ
When stars fade out do skies complainI
Or glory in the rising sunJ
-
No fate could rob us of our ownC
No circumstance can make it lessA
What time removes was but a loanC
For what was ours we still possessA
