Peace Should Not Come Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCEFFEGHHGIJJI KK

Peace should not come along this foul earth wayA
Peace should not come until we cleanse the pathB
God waited for us now in awful wrathB
He pours the blood of men out day by dayA
To purify the highroad for her feetC
Why what would Peace do in a world where heartsD
Are filled with thoughts like poison pointed dartsD
It were not meet surely it were not meetC
For Peace to come and with her white robes hideE
These industries of death these guns and swordsF
These uniformed hate filled destructive hordesF
These hideous things that are each nation's prideE
So long as men believe in armed mightG
Let arms be brandished Let not Peace be soughtH
Until the race heart empties out all thoughtH
Of blows and blood as arguments for RightG
The world has never had enough of warI
Else war were not Now let the monster standJ
Until he slays himself with his own handJ
Though no man knows what he is fighting forI
Then in the place where wicked cannons stoodK
Let Peace erect her shrine of BrotherhoodK
