There is nothing but glee in the roundelay | C |
That I hear them singing singing | B |
On wings of light up out of sight | D |
I watch them airily flying | B |
What do they know of the world below | C |
And the hopes that are dying dying | B |

Their sweet lips red and tender | F |
Oh life to them is a dream of bliss | G |
Of love and passion and splendour | F |
What know they of the world to day | A |
Of hearts that are silently breaking | B |
Of the human breast and its great unrest | H |
And its pitiless aching aching | B |

They send me out into Nature's heart | I |
For help to bear my sorrow | F |
Nothing of strength can she impart | I |
No peace from her can I borrow | F |
Her rose red June and her billing tune | J |
Her birds and blossoms only | C |
Mocked at the grief that seeks relief | K |
And leave me lonely lonely | C |
If I might stand on the treacherous sand | L |
And know I was sinking sinking | B |
While the moaning sea sang a dirge for me | C |
Why that were comfort I'm thinking | B |
