My Ships Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AABBAA AACCAA AADDAA AABBAA AAEEAAIf all the ships I have at sea | A |
Should come a sailing home to me | A |
From sunny lands and lands of cold | B |
Ah well the harbor could not hold | B |
So many sails as there would be | A |
If all my ships came in from sea | A |
- | |
If half my ships came home from sea | A |
And brought their precious freight to me | A |
Ah well I should have wealth as great | C |
As any king who sits in state | C |
So rich the treasures that would be | A |
In half my ships now at sea | A |
- | |
If just one ship I have at sea | A |
Should come a sailing home to me | A |
Ah well the storm clouds then might frown | D |
For if the others all went down | D |
Still rich and proud and glad I d be | A |
If that one ship came back to me | A |
- | |
If that one ship were down at sea | A |
And all the others came to me | A |
Weighed down with gems and wealth untold | B |
With glory honor riches gold | B |
The poorest soul on earth I d be | A |
If that one ship came not to me | A |
- | |
O skies be calm O winds blow free | A |
Blow all my ships safe home to me | A |
But if thou sendest some awrack | E |
To never more come sailing back | E |
Send any all that skim the sea | A |
But bring my love ship home to me | A |
