My Home Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH IIJJ KKLLJJJJJJ

This is the place that I love the bestA
A little brown house like a ground bird's nestA
Hid among grasses and vines and treesB
Summer retreat of the birds and beesB
-
The tenderest light that ever was seenC
Sifts through the vine made window screenC
Sifts and quivers and flits and fallsD
On home made carpets and gray hung wallsD
-
All through June the west wind freeE
The breath of the clover brings to meE
All through the languid July dayF
I catch the scent of the new mown hayF
-
The morning glories and scarlet vineG
Over the doorway twist and twineG
And every day when the house is stillH
The humming bird comes to the window sillH
-
In the cunningest chamber under the sunI
I sink to sleep when the day is doneI
And am waked at morn in my snow white bedJ
By a singing bird on the roof o'erheadJ
-
Better than treasures brought from RomeK
Are the living pictures I see at homeK
My aged father with frosted hairL
And mother's face like a painting rareL
Far from the city's dust and heatJ
I get but sounds and odours sweetJ
Who can wonder I love to stayJ
Week after week here hidden awayJ
In this sly nook that I love the bestJ
The little brown house like a ground bird's nestJ
