My Faith Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBABBCCD EFFEGGCC FHHFBBCC IJJIBB C

My faith is rooted in no written creedA
And there are those who call me hereticB
Yet year on year though I be well or sickB
Or opulent or in the slough of needA
If light of foot fair Life trips by me pleasuringB
Or by the rule of pain old Time stands measuringB
The dull drab moments still ascends my cryC
'God reigns on highC
He doeth all things well 'D
-
Not much I prize or one or any brandE
Of theologic lore nor think too wellF
Of generally accepted heaven and hellF
But faith and knowledge build at Love's commandE
A beauteous heaven a heaven of thought all clarifiedG
Of hate and fear and doubt a heaven of rarefiedG
And perfect trust and from the heaven I cryC
'God reigns on highC
Whatever is is best '-
-
My faith refuses to accept the 'fall'F
It sees man ever as a child of GodH
Growing in wisdom as new realms are trodH
Until the Christ in him is One with AllF
From this full consciousness my faith is borrowingB
Light to illuminate Life's darkest sorrowingB
Whatever woes assail me still I cryC
'God reigns on highC
He doeth all things well '-
-
My faith finds prayer the language of the heartI
Which gives us converse with the host unseenJ
And those who linger in the vales betweenJ
The Here and Yonder in these prayers take partI
My dead come near and say 'Death means not perishingB
Cherish us in your thoughts for by that cherishingB
Shall severed links be welded by and by '-
'God reigns on highC
Whatever is is best '-
