Mistakes Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC EFFE GHHG AIJA

God sent us here to make mistakesA
To strive to fail to re beginB
To taste the tempting fruit of sinB
And find what bitter food it makesA
-
To miss the path to go astrayC
To wander blindly in the nightD
But searching praying for the lightD
Until at last we find the wayC
-
And looking back along the pastE
We know we needed all the strainF
Of fear and doubt and strife and painF
To make us value peace at lastE
-
Who fails finds later triumph sweetG
Who stumbles once walks then with careH
And knows the place to cry BewareH
To other unaccustomed feetG
-
Through strife the slumbering soul awakesA
We learn on error's troubled routeI
The truths we could not prize withoutJ
The sorrow of our sad mistakesA
