Memory's Mansion Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDED FGFGHIHI JKLKMNMN OPOPQRQR

In Memory's Mansion are wonderful roomsA
And I wander about them at willB
And I pause at the casements where boxes of bloomsA
Are sending sweet scents o'er the sillB
I lean from a window that looks on a lawnC
From a turret that looks on the waveD
But I draw down the shade when I see on some gladeE
A stone standing guard by a graveD
-
-
To Memory's attic I clambered one dayF
When the roof was resounding with rainG
And there among relics long hidden awayF
I rummaged with heart ache and painG
A hope long surrendered and covered with dustH
A pastime out grown and forgotI
And a fragment of love all corroded with rustH
Were lying heaped up in one spotI
-
-
And there on the floor of that garret was tossedJ
A friendship too fragile to lastK
With pieces of dearly bought pleasures that costL
Vast fortunes of pain in the pastK
A fabric of passion once vivid and brightM
As the breast of a robin in SpringN
Was spread out before me a terrible sightM
A moth eaten rag of a thingN
-
-
Then down the deep stairway I hurriedly wentO
And into fair chambers belowP
But the mansion seemed filled with the old attic scentO
Wherever my footsteps would goP
Though in Memory's House I still wander full oftQ
No more to the garret I climbR
And I leave all the rubbish heaped there in the loftQ
To the hands of the Housekeeper TimeR
