Memories {1} Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEEBFB GHIIJJHKH ABJJLLBKB JMLLNNMGM| I am thinking of the Springtime | A |
| On the farm out in the West | B |
| When my world held nothing for me that I wanted | C |
| Save a courage all undaunted | D |
| And my foolish little rhymes | E |
| Were but heart beats rung in chimes | E |
| That I sounded just to ease my life's unrest | B |
| Yes I sang them and I rang them | F |
| Just to ease my youth's unrest | B |
| - | |
| When I heard the name of London | G |
| In that early day afar | H |
| In that Springtime of my Country over yonder | I |
| Then I used to sit and wonder | I |
| If the day would come to me | J |
| When my ship should cross the sea | J |
| To the land that seemed as distant as a star | H |
| In my dreaming ever gleaming | K |
| Like a distant unknown star | H |
| - | |
| Now in London in the Springtime | A |
| I am sitting here your guest | B |
| Nay I think it is a vision or a fancy | J |
| Part of dreamland Necromancy | J |
| And I question is it true | L |
| That the great warm hearts of you | L |
| Heard the winging of that singing in the West | B |
| Heard the chiming of my rhyming | K |
| From the farmhouse in the West | B |
| - | |
| Let me linger in the fancy | J |
| For the soul of me is stirred | M |
| As I dream that I am sitting here among you | L |
| And the songs that I have sung you | L |
| Shall grow stronger through the art | N |
| Of heart speaking unto heart | N |
| Through the gladness of the singer who is heard | M |
| Lo my songs have crossed the ocean | G |
| But the voice of my emotion finds no word | M |
