Martyrs Of Peace Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Fame writes ever its song and storyA
For heroes of war in letters of gloryA
-
But where is the story and where is the songB
For the heroes of peace and the martyrs of wrongB
-
They fight their battles in shop and mineC
They die at their posts and make no signC
-
They herd like beasts in a slaughter penD
They live like cattle and suffer like menD
-
Why set by the horrors of such a lifeE
Like a merry go round seems the battle's strifeE
-
And the open sea and the open boatF
And the deadly cannon with bellowing throatF
-
Oh what are they all with death thrown inG
To the life that has nothing to lose or winG
-
The life that has nothing to hope or gainH
But ill paid labour and beds of painH
-
Fame where is your story and where is your songB
For the martyrs of peace and the victims of wrongB
