Love's Way Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGG

Love gives us copious potions of delightA
Of pain and ecstasy and peace and careB
Love leads us upward to the mountain heightA
And like an angel stands beside us thereB
Then thrusts us demon like in some abyssC
Where in the darkness of despair we gropeD
Till suddenly Love greets us with a kissC
And guides us back to flowery fields of hopeD
-
Love makes all wisdom seem but poorest follyE
And yet the simplest mind with Love grows wiseF
The gayest heart he teaches melancholyE
Yet glorifies the erstwhile brooding eyesF
Love lives on change and yet at change Love mocksG
For Love's whole life is one great paradoxG
