And if we go amiss | B |
We learn at least which path is wrong | A |
And there is gain in this | B |

So often had they trod | F |
The paths that lead through light and shade | E |
They had become as God | F |

They passed along the way | H |
And left those mighty truths which men | G |
But dimly grasp to day | H |

But he who loves himself the last | I |
And knows the use of pain | J |
Though strewn with errors all his past | I |
He surely shall attain | J |

Some souls there are that needs must taste | K |
Of wrong ere choosing right | D |
We should not call those years a waste | K |
