Life Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KDKD

All in the dark we grope alongA
And if we go amissB
We learn at least which path is wrongA
And there is gain in thisB
-
We do not always win the raceC
By only running rightD
We have to tread the mountain's baseC
Before we reach its heightD
-
The Christs alone no errors madeE
So often had they trodF
The paths that lead through light and shadeE
They had become as GodF
-
As Krishna Buddha Christ againG
They passed along the wayH
And left those mighty truths which menG
But dimly grasp to dayH
-
But he who loves himself the lastI
And knows the use of painJ
Though strewn with errors all his pastI
He surely shall attainJ
-
Some souls there are that needs must tasteK
Of wrong ere choosing rightD
We should not call those years a wasteK
Which led us to the lightD
