Knitting Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACCDDBE FBBFEEGGBE HBBHEEIIBE

At the concert and the playA
Everywhere you see them sittingB
Knitting knittingB
Women who the other dayA
Thought of nothing but their frocksC
Or their jewels or their locksC
Women who have lived for pleasureD
Who have known no work but leisureD
Now are knitting knitting knittingB
For the soldiers over thereE
-
On the trains and on the shipsF
With a diligence befittingB
They are knittingB
Some with smiles upon their lipsF
Some with manners debonairE
Some with earnest look and airE
But each heart in its own fashionG
Weaves in pity and compassionG
In their knitting knitting knittingB
For the soldiers over thereE
-
Hurried women to and froH
From their homes to labour flittingB
Knitting knittingB
Busy handed come and goH
Broken bits of time they spareE
Just to feel they do their shareE
Just to keep life's sense of beautyI
In the doing of a dutyI
They are knitting knitting knittingB
For the soldiers over thereE
