| Event and circumstance upon this earth | B |
| Though favours fall on those whom none esteem | A |
| And insult and indifference greet worth | B |
| Though poverty repays the life of toil | C |
| And riches spring where idle feet have trod | D |
| And storms lay waste the patiently tilled soil | C |
| Yet Justice sways the universe of God | D |

| As undisturbed the stately stars remain | E |
| Beyond the glare of day's obscuring light | F |
| So Justice dwells though mortal eyes in vain | E |
| Seek it persistently by reason's sight | F |
| But when once freed the illumined soul looks out | G |
| Its cry will be 'O God how could I doubt ' | - |
