Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFG CHIHJKLK MNOPOPAP AQRQSTJTLooking some papers over | A |
Dusty and dim and old | B |
I found some words that thrilled me | C |

Words that were better than rubies | D |
And they stirred me even to tears | E |
For the hand that wrote them has rested | F |
Under the sod for years | G |

O name to be spoken softly | C |
O sainted Thurlow Brown | H |
The world lost one of its heroes | I |
When he dropped the cross for the crown | H |
And the cause he loved and fought for | J |
Lost more than my tongue can tell | K |
For he left no soul behind him | L |
That could do the work so well | K |

When I think of his mighty labors | M |
My own seem weak and vain | N |
And I know that his place in the vineyard | O |
Can never be filled again | P |
But the burning words that he uttered | O |
Or that dropped like coals from his pen | P |
Shall live for ever and ever | A |
In the hearts and minds of men | P |

O God if spirits do ever | A |
Come down from heaven on high | Q |
Let the spirit of this great hero | R |
Sometimes be hovering nigh | Q |
And give him the power to guide us | S |
In all that we do or say | T |
For the cause he loved and fought for | J |
Oh grant it Lord I pray | T |
