Rhyme Scheme: ABCDCCEEA AFGFGGHIHIJJKHKH HLMLMFFHFFH

If I were a man a young man and knew what I know to dayA
I would look in the eyes of Life undauntedB
By any Fate that might threaten meC
I would give to the world what the world most wantedD
Manhood that knows it can do and beC
Courage that dares and faith that can seeC
Clear into the depths of the human soulE
And find God there and the ultimate goalE
If I were a man a young man and knew what I know to dayA
-
If I were a man a young man and knew what I know to dayA
I would think of myself as the masterful creatureF
Of all the Masterful planG
The Formless Cause with form and featureF
The Power that heeds not limit or banG
Man wonderful manG
I would do good deeds and forget them straightwayH
I would weave my woes into ropes and climbI
Up to the heights of the helper's gatewayH
And Life should serve me and TimeI
And I would sail out and out and findJ
The treasures that lie in the deep sea MindJ
I would dream and think and actK
I would work and love and prayH
Till each dream and vision grew into a factK
If I were a man a young man and knew what I know to dayH
-
If I were a man a young man and knew what I know to dayH
I would guard my passions as Kings guard treasuresL
And keep them high and cleanM
For the will of a man with his passions measuresL
It is strong as they are keenM
I would think of each woman as some one's motherF
I would think of each man as my own blood brotherF
And speed him along on his wayH
And the glory of life in this wonderful hourF
Should fill me and thrill me with Conscious powerF
If I were a man a young man and knew what I know to dayH
